In Fond Memory of TDZ

A fragment of Croatia’s transition period, made ''in fond memory'' of the forty-odd workers for whom the fight against the untouchable economic and political elite was the only acceptable option.

The story about the privatization of Zagreb Tobacco Factory (TDZ), moving its facilities to Istria and occupation of its Zagreb plant by its workers in 2006 is a rare example of a direct workers’ action against the privatization that has, to a large extent, pauperized the cream of the former state – its working class.

Four years after the events – this film preserves a fragment of Croatia’s transition period. It was made in fond memory of the forty-odd workers for whom the fight against the untouchable economic and political elite was the only acceptable option.
