Jasna Zastavniković was born in 1973. She studied film and TV directing at Zagreb’s Academy of Dramatic Art. She made several short-length student films: live action Crime and Punishment (1994) and documentaries Drugs (1994) and Mother’s Name: Orange (1995). In 2004 she made the short film The Last Day in a Pet’s Life. She directed a large number of music videos (Jinx, Parni valjak, Darko Rundek, Goran Bare, Pips, Chips & Videoclips, Stampedo, Svadbas, Zabranjeno pušenje, Lidija Bajuk, Goribor etc.) and commercials. She also directed numerous programmes and series for Croatian Television. In 1996 she received the Rector’s Prize for her documentary Mother’s Name: Orange and in 1997 she won the Oktavijan Award for best commissioned film, a music video made for the band Stampedo. Her video Labin Art Express – Asshole was selected for the programme of Croatian presentation at EXPO in Lisbon in 1998. She assisted Ognjen Sviličić, Lukas Nola, Vlatka Vorkapić and Zrinko Ogresta. She wrote film reviews From West to East in Polet magazine.
