The documentary film Category: Optimist by Lana Šarić will be shown in Journalist House (Perkovčeva 3) as part of the celebration of the International Day of Awareness of CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia), on 22 September 2012.

The program will start at 2pm with a series of lectures, where people can find out everything about CML and new ways of its treatment. After the lectures follows an informal get-together and the screening of Category: Optimist, a film in which Lana Šarić, courageously and in an artistically mature way, deals with her disease and its consequences.

The day of 22 September (22/9) was selected because it was the genetic modification of the leukemia cell generated by the change in the genetic material between the 9th and 22nd chromosome that had led to creation of the new Philadelphia chromosome that carries the so-called bcr-abl gene, responsible for the disease.

The event is organized by Croatian Leukemia and Lymphoma Association.
