Films Happily Ever After by Tatjana Božić, Naked Island by Tiha K. Gudac, and Children of Transition by Matija Vukšić have been selected for the 20th Sarajevo Film Festival documentary competition. This year’s edition of Sarajevo Film Festival takes place 15-23 August 2014.

The film Happily Ever After is a humorous and ruthless portrayal of director Tatjana Božić’s love life. This feature documentary debut by the filmmaker who splits her time between Zagreb and Amsterdam was screened early this year at International Rotterdam Film Festival and it also opened the anniversary edition of ZagrebDox. Tatjana Božić’s film is scheduled for Wednesday, 20 August, at 3pm, Cinema City theatre 1.

In the film Naked Island the director, using archive photographs and testimonies of close people, unveils the big and painful family secret, conceived six decades ago at the Naked Island political concentration camp. This is producer Tiha K. Gudac’s directorial debut, which proved successful even in the project stage. It participated at several significant workshop, and at Docu Rough Cut Boutique in Sarajevo 2012 it won the DOK.Inkubator award. The screening of Naked Island is scheduled for Thursday, 21 August at 8.30pm, Cinema City theatre 1.

Children of Transition
is the latest film by Matija Vukšić, the director known for his acclaimed documentary portrayals Benjamin (2009) and Iroquois (2010). Following four children from different parts of Croatia and their coming-of-age stories, the author paints a shocking picture of the Croatian society, questioning at the same time what do a happy childhood and healthy growing up today look like and what kind of heritage we leave for our common future. Children of Transition is scheduled in Sarajevo on Friday, 22 August at 8.30pm, Cinema City theatre 1.

The list of all films in the documentary competition can be found on the official website of Sarajevo Film Festival.
