Marina Aničić Spremo

Marina Aničić Spremo was born on October 24, 1983, in Zagreb, Croatia. After completing high school in Knin, she enrolled at the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Zagreb, where she earned a degree in journalism.

She gained extensive experience working in radio and television journalism. In 2015, she began her professional development in documentary filmmaking, completing the MPA – Video Production program, the In Focus – Character Development in Documentary Film workshop organized by Fade In, and the Film School at Kino Klub Zagreb.

Since 2016, she has worked as a camera assistant on various film projects. In 2017, she participated in a Fade In workshop, where she co-directed her first short documentary film, Pastir (The Shepherd), which was screened at numerous national and international festivals, including Kratki na brzinu, Viva Film Festival, Twin Lion International Film Festival, AFC Global Fest, and San Mauro Film Fest. That same year, she attended the RAD program (a workshop for female documentary filmmakers) at UnderhillFest in Podgorica, Montenegro, and independently produced the documentary reportage Spomenak for the Croatian Heritage Foundation.

In 2021, she completed her first feature-length documentary Dubica, produced by Factum, for which she served as director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. The film premiered at ZagrebDox and was later screened at the Liburnia Film Festival, Days of Croatian Film, Fibula, First Frame, Balkan New Film Festival (Stockholm), and the Forteca International Film Festival in Perast, Montenegro, where it won the Best Female Voice in a Documentary Film award (2023).

She is currently developing her second feature documentary Not for Sale, again in collaboration with Factum, while also working on various projects as a cinematographer.
