The Croatian Society of Film Critics established the Oktavijan Award in 1992, and it was named after Oktavijan Miletić, the first Croatian filmmaker who systematically worked with film, and is therefore considered the founder of Croatian and Yugoslav cinema. It is a film award that continuously monitors the entire domestic cinema, making it the most relevant and representative Croatian film award.
