Fatmir Koçi

Albanian scriptwriter, director and producer of documentary and fiction films, co-founder of Marubi Film and Multimedia School – the first film school in Albania's history.

Fatmir Koçi was born in 1959. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Tirana and he obtained his degree from the Tirana Film School in 1989. He has directed short, documentary and full-length fiction films. His documentary film Alternative Head won him awards at film festivals in France and Belgium. In 2001, his film Tirana: Year Zero was selected in the Cinema di presente program of the International Film Festival in Venice. In the same year he won Golden Alexander Award at Thessalonica International Film Festival. He is a co-founder of the Marubi Film and Multimedia School – the first film school in Albania's history (2004).
