Igor Mirković was born in Zagreb in 1965. He completed his primary and secondary education there, as well as Political Science studies at the Faculty of Political Science. In 1989 he started working as a TV journalist and editor of TV shows U potrazi, Javna stvar, 007 and Od 5 do 12. In addition to his work on Croatian Radiotelevision, we worked for independent productions. From 1994 to 1996 he worked for CNN's World Report. His documentary TV reports were awarded in Croatia and abroad.
In 1998 he made his first documentary film, Orbanići Unplugged, produced by Factum. The film marked the beginning of his filmmaking career. The general public first became acquainted with Mirković as film director in 2001, when he and Rajko Grlić co-directed Croatia 2000: Who Wants to Be a President – a documentary film on the dramatic events that took place in Croatia on the eve of the 2000 elections which, after the death of President Franjo Tuđman, marked the end of the 10-year rule of Croatian Democratic Union. In 2003 he made Lucky Child, a documentary on the New Wave in the pop-music of former Yugoslavia. In 2012 he made his first feature-length fiction film Night Boats.
