FACTUM THE ABSOLUTE WINNER AT 14TH LIBURNIA FILM FESTIVAL

Dum Spiro Spero wins best film, A Two-Way Mirror by Katarina Zrinka Matijević honoured with a special mention and best cinematography and sound design.

The documentary film Dum Spiro Spero, directed by Pero Kvesić and produced by Factum, has won the best film award according to the decision of the jury at 14th Liburnia Film Festival.

The jury consisting of Tiha K. Gudac, Carolina Mancini, Dragan von Petrović, Marko Njegić and Zoran Medved honoured this film, “a celebration of life through a film that resembles life itself, in its being circular, subjective, full of beauty, grief and simple pleasures” and dedicated this award to its protagonist, “a special character” as the jury explanation says – Babl the dog.

The jury gave a special mention to the film A Two-Way Mirror by Katarina Zrinka Matijević, which “reflects both life and film as an interwoven reflection in an introspective documentary essay,” adding that this is indeed a very special film.

Vjeran Hrpka won the best cinematographer award for his work on A Two-Way Mirror, for his “power of hypnotic magnetism which magnificently transfer the director’s emotion.”

Vesna Biljan Pušić and Ivan Zelić also won their award for their participation in A Two-Way Mirror as best sound designers, “for their dedicated and inspired work on sound design which helped make this film a magical work of art, almost unprecedented in recent Croatian cinema.”
