Documentary films Blockade by Igor Bezinović and Čedo by Nikola Strašek were selected for the programme of the 19th edition of MEDFILM Festival – the festival of Mediterranean film taking place in Rome 21-30 June 2013.

Feature-length documentary Blockade by Igor Bezinović, produced by Factum and Restart, was selected for the International Documentary Programme of the 19th MEDFILM Festival and competes for the Open Eyes Award. Blockade is portrayal of the largest, longest and politically most significant student protest in these areas, the blockade of Zagreb’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences that took place in April and May 2009. So far it has been presented at 13 Croatian and foreign festivals.

Čedo
by Nikola Strašek is one of nine recent Croatian titles to be screened in the selection New Croatian Film, realised by MEDFILM in association and with the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. Čedo is a documentary film about Čedo Šaraba, a marginalised man we see every day on the streets of Zagreb, in parks and trams. So far it has been screened at several international festivals.

This year’s MEDFILM Festival will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Croatian director Veljko Bulajić. Croatia is the festival’s guest of honour, as a tribute to its upcoming EU accession.
