'Naked Island' by Tiha K. Gudac wins Special Mention at ZFF, Nenad Puhovski takes Albert Kapović Award

Factum’s success stories have marked the beginning and the end of ZFF. At the opening ceremony Nenad Puhovski was presented the annual Albert Kapović Award and Tiha K. Gudac celebrated in the final round – her film 'Naked Island' won a Special Mention in documentary competition.

Director Tiha K. Gudac won a Special Mention at Zagreb Film Festival for her film Naked Island. The festival closed on Sunday, 26 October. The documentary jury consisting of directors Petra Seliškar and Željka Sukova and film theoretician Alice Bardan gave the Special Mention to this film with the explanation: Tiha K. Gudac’s Naked Island inspires people to speak about repressed memories of unpleasant experiences and in that process to explore the possibility of coming to terms with them. The Special Mention was presented to the director at the award ceremony on Saturday at Europa cinema.

Factum production’s success marked the closing, but also the opening of Zagreb Film Festival: director Nenad Puhovski was given the Albert Kapović Award at the opening, for his film work and activities that greatly contributed to the quality and promotion of Croatian film. Puhovski said: This award means to me and Factum more than any award should ever mean. It presents the closure of a process in which Factum was finally acknowledged after being contested for a long time. This is not just mine and Factum’s award, it belongs to all of us. We have shown how mutual respect and tolerance became part of our society.
